Lead Costs the People of Michigan $300 Million Every Year

A new report released by the University of Michigan Risk Science Center estimates that childhood lead exposure costs Michigan residents $330 million annually, and a statewide remediation program would pay for itself in three years.

Earlier I had the pleasure to meet a couple dozen guests from Lingnan University in Hong Kong.  Alfred, the Director of Service Learning at Lingnan and a sociologist asked me, "How do you engage and involve students with advocacy for justice and policy change?"  An unexpected and challenging question that, at first, left me speechless.

Jane Makes A Difference at Healthy Homes

For the past few months, I have had the opportunity to be an intern at Healthy Homes Coalition. Knowing very little about Healthy Homes before I started working there, I was fascinated by how much I learned in such a short amount of time. My new knowledge of how homes can be protected from pests and dangers, such as carbon monoxide, will be something that I can use for the rest of my life.
