Healthy Homes Coalition Operations During the COVID-19 Outbreak in Kent County

posted:

After much consideration, research, and conversations with staff and organizational leadership, the Healthy Homes Coalition has decided to take proactive measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 in our community. As of Friday, March 13, 2020, we are suspending home visiting and community outreach activities until Monday, April 6, 2020. All group meetings are being canceled.

At this point, staff will still be maintaining office hours 9 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday, and we will still be providing services to families and community members by phone (616-241-3300), email, and online. Some staff may begin working from home, and we will be limiting all face-to-face meetings with guests and outside of the office.

Staff have been instructed on how to respond should they, or someone in their household, experience symptoms. The Healthy Homes Coalition is working to support self-quarantine by looking into how it can support additional days of paid leave for staff impacted by COVID-19. We are hopeful that federal policy currently being discussed will provide tax-relief not just for small businesses, but will also include a provision for tax-exempt employers. We value our staff and our community and know a generous option is needed at this time in the interest of public health.

Please keep yourself and your family safe. Please do what you can to avoid activities that contribute to the spread of COVID-19. Our elders, high-risk neighbors, and health care workers are counting on everyone's help.

Sincerely,

Paul Haan
Executive Director
