Healthy Homes Coalition Part of National "Pay for Success" Demonstration Project

Today, the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI), a grantee of the Social Innovation Fund’s Pay for Success program, and its collaboration partner Calvert Foundation, selected five service providers to participate in regional Pay for Success (PFS) projects. These awardees, selected by GHHI through a national competition, will work in collaboration with local health care organizations to conduct feasibility studies of PFS models that fund home-based asthma interventions, including remediation of asthma triggers and resident education.

The Healthy Homes Coalition of West Michigan, along with Health Net of West Michigan and the Asthma Network of West Michigan were selected as service providers for the Grand Rapids, MI project. These organizations will partner with Spectrum Health and Priority Health to develop and implement a local model for west Michigan.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to make sure substandard housing does not result in children going to the hospital in West Michigan," said Healthy Homes Coalition Executive Director Paul Haan. "This project will make kids' houses healthier, and the financing strategy makes this work truly sustainable."

"We are pleased to be one of only five communities to be selected," said Haan. "And we are thrilled to be partnering with such talented and committed local agencies along with national experts like GHHI and the Calvert Foundation."
