Free Lead Training for Repair Professionals

The City of Grand Rapids Get the Lead Out! program is offering free lead training for professionals seeking to enter the lead hazard control, abatement and assessment fields.  This is an opportunity for small business owners from the affected communities to receive free training to make them eligible for lead hazard control work funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

To be eligible for the training scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Household income must be less than 80% of Area Median Income (AMI).  For example, less than $50,000 for a family of four.
  • The applicant must be a resident of a program target area (the entire City of Grand Rapids is eligible).

The training scholarships will pay for free training for the following disciplines:

  • Lead Abatement Worker
  • Lead Abatement Supervisor
  • Lead Inspector / Risk Assessor

For more information on these disciplines, visit the Michigan Department fo Community Health's lead website.

To apply for scholarship, contact Doug Stek at the City of Grand Rapids by email or by calling (616) 456-3030.
